New Owner - '88 911 Targa

Hi All,

New owner here - been reading all the great advice and interesting things you all are doing. I'll try to not annoy with too many newbie questions - my first Porsche. Looking forward to fixing up this 911. Pretty much a stock 911 with 129K on it.

First projects will be on fixing up the interior - center console, shifter, upholstery. Then brakes and some minor paint issues.

beren

Here's my new-to-me '89 coupe with 112K:

Beren: Welcome. Feel free to bring all your questions here. In the opinion of many, you have bought the best year of the 3.2 engine with the G50 transmission. Good choice...

Nice car, congrats! (If the brakes need doing, do them first...) Best of luck!

congrats on a great looking ride from another '88 Carrera owner. Very nice stance, too. You'll be glad that lowering it won't be on your "To Do" list.

Great looking car, and certainly one of the best years to get!

If they need it, spend the money on the brakes first, all the trim items can wait till it's mechanically sound!

Enjoy it on good health.

Yeah - brakes and engine are definitely at the top of the list. Suspension, tires, wheels, and electrics looks pretty good.

Nice ride! Of course, I am partial to 3.2 Targas.

Where are you from in Philly? A bunch of Porsches here on the Main Line.

I'm in Furlong - right outside Doylestown.

Who do you use as a wrench? I hope do to most thing myself, but it seems that West Chester has most of the good mechanics.

Hey Beren,
Nice ride. Regarding my car, I'll take some measurements this weekend and PM you the results. What size wheels do you have on your car ....they look sharp. I'm going to get some Fuchs as soon as I can.

Get on the RTR(PCA region) forum. I know there are some good shops in your area, but I am unsure of the specifics. I can give you about five here on the Main Line, but I am unfamiliar with Doylestown.
