hood won't latch closed
 

Trying to figure out a strange noise from the back of the car. A clunk / thud sound. Turns out the hood is not latching closed. Pulled the cable released, pulled and released, but sty ill not latching closed. Closed the hood hoping that something was stuck, but still won't latch closed. Anybody have any ideas how to latch it closed, or why it may be doing so.

both the male part of the latch on the engine lid, and the receiver on the body are held on by 10mm bolts. if you loosen these, the receiver or latch will move slightly to allow for adjustment. Try it bit by bit (I would start with the receiver) so that you don't overdo it and find that now the lid won't open!

One other thing is that the catch needs to move back after you pull the cable. Get someone to help by pulling the cable and be certain the latch moves all the way back when it's released. The grease that lubricates that latch gets old and sludgy and attracts a lot of grit over time.

Problem solved. Just need a little lubricant, and a clean up. All good. Thanks for the help
