Help with this Tranny Plug Please

OK, did my first valve adjustment this weekend. It turned out great. That and a new set of plugs, and she's running like a champ.
But...
I also have this wonderful gallon of Swepco sitting there and a 17mm Tranny drain plug tool. So like a good boy I try the fill plug first and no go! Alright 21 yr old car. So I get out the Liquid wrench. 2 applications with ample time in between and the recommended tapping with the hammer. Still no go. I don't want to wallow out the thing so it's hard to apply any more force.

Any suggestions? I would really like to get the new stuff in there.
Thanks for your help

Get a big piece of pipe and slip it over the allen key. You'll have enough leverage to get it moving in seconds.

reinstall with anti seize so it's not such a pain next time

and remove the fill (top) plug first, since you may as well wait to drain if you're unable to fill.

Swepco smells like candy to me!

I had the same problem. A 12" piece of pipe over the wrench gave me the leverage I needed. Not sure why both the fill and drain plug were so tight! Torqued them back down to 22ft lbs (from Bentley) and filled w/ Swepco. Good stuff!

Several additional suggestions: Make sure the hex recess in the plug is fully cleaned of any debris. If there is a lot of clearance in the fit of the hex key or bit into the plug hex recess try wrapping the key or bit with very fine sand paper (grit outward) to tighten the fit and increase friction. Have a second person apply force down on the hex bit or key while you pull on the extension (cheater pipe); this will help keep the key seated and help avoid "caming out" of the recess. Before loosening try tightening just a bit as this sometimes this will break free corrosion that is locking the thread. Remember not to over tighten the new plug. Good luck, Jim
