First Porsche flat tire..How do I ..?

Will try to make this short and sweet, got a flat on the right rear of my 86 turbo, jack worked great, air compressor worked great.. Could not put the old rim in the trunk but that is unimportant..

My question is:
How in the heck to you get the colapsable tire back IN the trunk, once I get the tire fixed?

I've never had to use one--are you saying it wont collapse small enuf to fit the spare tire well? I would assume you can just unscrew the valve stem and lean on the tie to evacuate. A good thought if that is what's required is that we carry something (the old style cap) that would remove the stem. Let us know how you solve your problem. Good Luck!

Once you let the air out of the spare it should shrink back down to its collasped state, not unlike many other things in our life.{I meant my wallet, what were you thinking?}

You know you should move front tire back and put spare up front do you?

FYI,
The owners manual says if you get a rear flat you are supposed to take a tire off from the front and put the spare on the front!

I'm guessing that this is because of potential damage to the LSD?

Putting the spare back into the car is a PITA. I recently took mine out, and literally had to place it in position and sit on it, with the value open, to get it to collapse sufficiently to go back into position. My guess is there's no easy way to do it.

Used my spare recently and when I was finished, opened the valve and watched as it (very slowly) went back to its original size. It is a slow process.

I was curious a little while back, and wanted to take mine out. It was then that I realized, one of the PO's had mounted the cd changer so that the spare can't be removed.

I carry screwdrivers, I'll deal with it when and if necessary.

good one....
