Fuse Question (please help)

I just got my 930!

I was driving it home (AZ to TX) when half way home the AC stopped. When you turn it on it does nothing. The vents still blow if I turn on the fans through the upper pannel.

I think its the fuse, I have yet to pull it.

If it is the fuse, are they all the same amps? Can I go to a local auto store and get more?

If its not the fuse anyone have any ideas what elseit can be?

Thanks everyone!

James--re: your AC problem--two thoughts come to mind. 1)Have you checked your AC compressor belt? 2) If you find that the fuse is blown, do NOT try replacing it with a larger fuse! That way lies FLAMES! The blown fuse indicates too much current draw and you've got to determine what is causing it. It would probably be best to have the AC system checked out by a pro until you are more familiar with your new car. Good Luck...

We may have a similar problem.

Take a look at the wiring diagram I just posted about my AC (see temperature switch question). I did not notice your thread before I posted. First check the fuse. Second check the relay. Swap relays if you want a simple check. If you have a volt meter, check the voltage to the pins shown in the wiring sketch. The pin numbers are on the bottom of the relay so you'll be able to tell. If you have voltage to pin 30 and to pin 86, you have a bad relay. If there is no voltage to pin 30, the fuse is bad. I'm not sure what year your car is and I'm assuming the wiring would be the same or similar to that shown. If it's different, every pin reference I just gave is wrong, but the procedure for trouble shooting will be the same.

Also, have someone stand at your compressor and see if the clutch picks up. On my car it is controlled by the temp switch and should come on once you turn your AC rotary knob on. With the ignition switch on, if the clutch picks up but the fan does not blow, you have either a bad fuse or a bad relay.

good luck and try to stay cool

grrrr

I dont have a full manual on the car yet. This may be a stupid question, but where is the relay?

BTW its a 77 930
