Local body shop for paint job western Mass

I want to change the color on my 83 SC. It had a decent re-spray about 5 years ago in the original color. I'm looking for a place to take it down to the metal and do everything windows out new rubber etc. (don't need the engine bay painted). I am near Great Barrington MA. I'm looking for a shop within 50 miles - NY CT MA is fine. I want a good job but it does not have to be some crazy show quality- this car is a driver. I would like to spend under 10 thousand dollars but I have no idea what it costs.

thanks

Good shop in Charlton, MA

Gary Cove has a restoration shop in Charlton, between Sturbridge and Worcester, does very nice work incl. many 911's. I don't have the number close at hand but you should be able to Google him. John.

I can't recommend BTO Autoworks loudly enough. I just had the exact service you're talking about. An '87 Carrera that went in for a bare metal, windows out, completely stripped repaint. His work was amazing and he was on top of all the things you worry about, from the obvious like paint quality to things you may not think about like properly refitting trim and rewiring things like the power windows and mirrors since he paints the body with the doors off. Owner is in the shop and his crew is amazing. He does Speedsters and $100k 911S restorations, but he treated our Carrera like it was just as important. Give Ray a call at 845-485-2557 or check out btoautoworks.com . Tell him Matt from Unobtanium sent you so he knows the bar was set high with the white Carrera!

I should have mentioned that he's just south of me (Rhinebeck, NY) in the town of Poughkeepsie. Very much worth the short trip for you.

Matt- did you get that all done for under $10k? I was looking at double that for a down to metal resto - settled for $12k and I did the tear down, and not a complete bare metal.

That's a really great deal when you see how thorough he is. He's not the kind of guy who is satisfied leaving something undone or short-cutted. I think you'll be as happy as we were.

Catluck - Gt beat me to stating prices, but as you can see he offers a much higher level of service for the money. At least I feel he does.

Werke Classic Car Center, Charlton, MA

I found the business card, so for the record:

Werke Classic Car Center, 375 Worcester Road (aka Rte 20), Charlton MA 01507
(508) 248-9224. Gary Cove, proprietor.

No affiliation. I drive past his shop periodically on my work route and stopped in after seeing 911's, XKE and early Lotus Elan in his parking lot. John.

I used to live in Lenox.

Paul Lamoureux
Oliver Auto Body
1060 Bay St, Springfield, MA 01109
413-736-5481

Has always done a decent job on my formula cars.

Decker's
91 State Rd
Great Barrington, MA 01230
413-528-1432

Had them do work on a VW years ago. There's someone in Sheffield too, and just over the border in Canaan, CT, and Hillsdale, NY out on Route 23.

Carlson Autobody
1100 Pleasant St
Lee, MA 01238
(413) 243-1813

There's someone else in Lee that does restorations, maybe down on Route 102

Auto Associates
Jim Newton
5 Albany Turnpike
Canton, CT 06019
(860) 693-0278

May be worth it, and not cost a whole lot more to have Auto Associates do a top notch job.

I like the sounds of BTO. That is a lot of value for $10k.
