fuel mixture setting

I suspect the oscillating idle on my 81sc might be due to a too rich mixture setting.

I say this because the shop that set it adjusted the CO % at around 1.5%.
Looking at my spec. booklet, I noticed that for the 78 and 79sc's (without the O2 sensors), a setting of 1.5% is OK, but that mine should be btween .4 and.8%. I also understand that the reading should be measured without interference from the Cat or the O2 sensor.

I will be hooking it up to a gas analyzer later in the week, my question has to do with disconnecting the O2 sensor before testing/setting. If I simply remove the control module relay, will that fully disable the sensor or do I need to disconnect it from the sensor itself?

Just unplug the wire from the oxy sensor. Located below the CID box

If your OXS connector is starting to crumble or disintegrate, this is the best time to replace it. A PP member by the screen name Louie85 (?) makes an excellent replacement part. Bought a few of them in the past and could never been more satisfied.

Thanks... The O2 sensor is new, but I will keep our PP member in mind.

Anyone ever reset the 02 sensor counter? Is it necessary/recommended?

Do not remove the relay. Just unplug as noted.

O2 - I reset set that little pig every time I have a big gauge out.
