fuel mixture setting
I suspect the oscillating idle on my 81sc might be due to a too rich mixture setting.
I say this because the shop that set it adjusted the CO % at around 1.5%. Looking at my spec. booklet, I noticed that for the 78 and 79sc's (without the O2 sensors), a setting of 1.5% is OK, but that mine should be btween .4 and.8%. I also understand that the reading should be measured without interference from the Cat or the O2 sensor. I will be hooking it up to a gas analyzer later in the week, my question has to do with disconnecting the O2 sensor before testing/setting. If I simply remove the control module relay, will that fully disable the sensor or do I need to disconnect it from the sensor itself? Thanks for any insight! |

Just unplug the wire from the oxy sensor. Located below the CID box

Thanks... The O2 sensor is new, but I will keep our PP member in mind.
Anyone ever reset the 02 sensor counter? Is it necessary/recommended? |

Do not remove the relay. Just unplug as noted.
O2 - I reset set that little pig every time I have a big gauge out.
