First Drive
Took the first drive of any consequence in the 911 yesterday. 2.5 hours of Southside VA 2 lane blacktop. Sunny day, beautiful views, lots of turns marked 40-45 mph.
After mostly sitting in the previous owners garage for the last 14 years, the car just seems to run better and better the more it's driven. It is always fun to get to know a new car, and this is my first 911, so there is lots that's new. Wheel bearings a little noisy, wind noise through hardened windshield seal, shifter bushings need replacing, but still incredibly pleasant. I am smitten

So glad to hear it! Especially the nice weather, which is part and parcel with open-window driving. The nice thing is that as you update or repair each item that comes to your attention you will become one with the car - so good!
Darn if the bung plug for the O2 sensor wiggled out of my '78's bypass pipe - I sounded like I'd done the Folgers can update on my Targa. 18mx1.5 for anyone keeping score...thought I'd Loctite'd that item?

Congratulations Doc,
You'll never look back. Replace those shifter bushings along with the tunnel guide and ball joint at the bottom of your shift lever. It's an easy DIY that will pay off in confidence and satisfaction. Lots of threads! Welcome. Scott

VERY true -- seems that the more these cars are driven, the happier they get
