Easy front torsion bar removal

I just discovered an easy way to remove front torsion bars for my 1987 911. Once the cap in the back of the torsion bar was removed, I cleaned the end of the bar and tightened a stainless steel water hose clamp around the splined end of the torsion bar.

The clamp protected the spline of the bar, while providing something that I could put leverage against. I was able to use a small pry bar and to get purchase on the screw housing of the clamp. The bar came right out without my having to drift it our from the front.
