calling WEBER experts / part help
1. what are the tubes sticking up (yellow)
2. how do I remove these tubes 3. where do i source the little screens to cover the jet area now (red) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1387323970.jpg http://carcraftstore.com/images/prod...umb/435348.jpg |
Those are the float bowl air vent tubes and you don't need to remove them (they are pressed in).
The screens were used on the 46mm Webers which didn't race with air cleaners, thus allowing FOD to enter the air correction jets and vent holes. Those parts are long NLA so you'll need to make your own if you want them. |

do i cover the tops of them with some screen? or just leave open? |
I make replicas but am out of stock until mid Jan. My replicas match OEM screens in all aspects and are available with silver zinc plating or yellow chromate conversion over the zinc both of which are original finishes depending upon year they were produced.
The tubes provide some defense from fuel sloshing out of the tops of the Webers. I remove them by using a countersink to cut the end of the tube inside the top cover and then they will easily wiggle out. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1387332023.jpg |
