Well, this is certainly not your normal Porsche

Here's a very interesting car, from the folks at Bring A Trailer.

1957 Porsche Typ 597 Jagdwagen

Never heard of one of these before, certainly a cool little car. And an impressive asking price too!

Looks like a variation of the Kubelwagen - without fenders or doors.

I understand that Porsche "Sportwagen" was a model submitted to the new German Army after WWII for their basic jeep type vehicle. The German Army wanted VW to produce an updated version of the old Kübelwagen but VW declined because they were up to capacity wth the civilian VW's. The model that was finally chosen was the DKW (now Audi) "Munga". That was a 4WD, 2-cycle engine, all purpose car in use until the late 70's:
