Hi All -
I am looking for an 911 3.2 Carrera aluminum flywheel. I found a supplier called Fidanza. Have anyone of you experiance with company/product. |

I had been considering this flywheel but there were reports of it fouling some part of the engine casing (which has to be ground away), so I've decided to retain the stock flywheel and go with a lighter pressure plate instead. If you search, there are some pics of the Fidanza fitting issue. Not sure if it has been resolved...

I personally know Lou at Fidenza, great guy. At one time owned Gran Turismo Jaguar and had the fastest and winning-est Jaguar XK-E in the world driven by Fred Baker. It was fun when we used to take that old Jag and whip Paul Newnam and the factory backed Datsuns time after time!
Out of this business grew a performance parts business that morphed into the aluminum/lightweight flywheel business that is currently a huge supplier of this product. My experience is that Lou is approachable and will answer any question/concern you have in an honest and straightforward manner. If you have concerns I would call him directly at the number listed on the website. I would have to believe there was some issue with incorrect spec for a chosen application rather than there is a design problem with the new flywheel. Seriously, just call Lou and ask.

I used a fidanza lightweight in my 74...and loved it. Performed without flaw.
I got talked out of one for my 930 ...but I thinking I am going to put one in anyway to see how it will do with my stage II setup. So, in short go for it....

Just passing on info from a very trusted Porsche source, mechanic, fabricator and shop owner....he's had too much trouble with the Fidenza flywheel to be worth his reputation.
I'm sure Lou is a great guy. There has to be more than one option/maker of alloy flywheels. Last edited by Reiver; 12-26-2013 at 05:18 PM.. |

My Son installed an aluminum flywheel in his old Honda Civic. It was horrible to drive because it was so light it caused a way too quick throttle response. Revved too quick and was very hard to drive.

I've used a few of them and have always been impressed with the quality, but one was for a 323 GTX nad the other for a Honduh.
Both seemed like nice pieces for the money. I didn't know fidanza had one for the 3.2 or I would have got one for my 87 instead of buying a new factory one. EDIT - Don't have time to look further into this right now but the application for the flywheels doesn't list for the 3.2..... Last edited by Jonny042; 12-26-2013 at 05:46 PM.. |

Stock flywheel is already very light - much more gain from going to AL PP from stock steel.

I had to grind the case to make it fit.

Just from doing a search on the unit it appears that starter ring separation is a common problem.
I may just lighten my original Flywheel a bit and look at a lighter basket. |

Stutzdriver - maybe you can alert Mr. Fidanza to this thread so he can redesign the product?
