Help identify another orphan connection?

Sorry, I have no other info on this one since I can't see where the wires ultimately lead, but figured to throw it out there in case someone recently encountered it or knows off-hand what it is.
As I was looking at the wiring feeding down off of the heater blower looking for the cause of my heater fuse bowing, I pulled up a small wire harness that was tucked down under and found this two pin female end taped off. It has a red/white stripe wire, and a brown wire feeding into the plug. The small harness then connects into another larger taped up harness running below the heater blower and out the back, towards the front of the car in the engine compartment...can't see where it all goes though.
Any help would be appreciated!

It's been a long time since I replaced my cruise control servo with an electronic unit, but that looks like the connector to the servo I remember. If the cruise control servo was removed from the car or even if it didn't have that option, I think that's what you're looking at.

Awesome, that makes great sense!...given the fact that my cruise control has never worked...Funny all the treasures you find in an old car (that has a bit of stuff that has never worked) when you really go looking...
Thanks very much Olivier!

Thank you Lorne...I'll put it back on on my list, just in case, of potential issues to look at then when i get back in later this next week.
Thanks much,
Christian

It connected to a vacuum pod between runner 2 and 3 on 78 and 79.

Don't think it's the cruise. Your other photo on the vacuum hose thread shows the cruise servo with the connector securely plugged in the top. Looks similar but don't think it's cruise.

Ok, thank you very much Bruce and thank you for additional confirmation Schoward

I think there are some "orphans" from the early SC's that just kind of dangle on the later SC's.

I swear I have seen that floating around in my 81. I think LM3929 and bruce hit it. I don't have the vacuum pod on my 81. You don't on your 83. But Porsche did not delete from the wiring harness.

That would be great news; thanks much Bob!

I was told that the connector is for a thermo time switch my '80 SC doesn't have.
Excerpt from John Walkers reply:

> if you have a thermo-time switch between #2 and #3 intake runner, it goes there. if not, it isn't used and is usually found taped to the loom.

Not used after '79 but still wired into the harness until at least '81 from the harnesses I have been sent to rebuild.
