Test drove an 87 which had all sound deadening removed, had a track suspension, and a sports muffler. The car was LOUD! It was too loud and rode like a buckboard. Probably was fun on the track with a helmet and earplugs but for just tooling around on the street it was impossible to hold a conversation without yelling. Listening to a radio was out of the question.
Sounds like a similar scenario except you have a sound pad in the engine bay. |
I wil feel around on top of the muffler. I tried to record some audio with my phone, but my fancy Nokia phone does some noise suppression wizardry... And you couldn't hear anything. I will use a different device.

Is it just engine/exhaust noise that makes it too loud? This summer, I had some tires that were worn and causing excessive noise. It was quite loud, and my exhaust isn't stock, either.
