Wtb 44mm cis airbox
Hey everyone,
I have a cracked airbox, is anyone selling or know where I can get an airbox for my 911sc with 44mm ports (large intake runners)? I got a replacement airbox but it's the 38mm and would like to trade if possible? It's got the pop off valve installed also. Any help would be great Email me at: acsphotographic@gmail.com Or text me on 0422 775 844 Kindest regards Adam |

I assume the 44mm port size reference came from Pelican. For some reason, I believe the Pelican on-line catalog refers to the outside diameter of the port opening on the airbox, not the inside diameter. Technically, the proper way to specify a port size is the internal diameter of the port. On the larger port airboxes (78 - 79 911 CIS), the ID is 38 mm. The smaller ports are 34 mm on the 76 - 77 CIS and 80 - 83. I have called attention to this in the past, but for some reason the catalog department has never changed it. Technically, if you have a 38 mm port airbox you have the correct one for the 79- 79.

CIS air box replacement........
Adam,
Just what Jim Williams mentioned, double check the ID/OD of the air box intake tubes. For your reference use these as a guide: 34 mm / 39 mm (ID/OD) ........ smaller intake manifolds for ('76-'77 & '80-'83) USA. 38 mm / 45 mm (ID/OD) ......... larger intake manifolds for ('78-'79) USA. RoW might have a difference in MY (model/year) but the 34/38 mm ID is the critical difference between these two (2) CIS air boxes. It is more economical to find one in Australia due to the shipping cost for this light but bulky item. If you decide to use the smaller ID air box with the larger intake runners, the intake air mass flow rate would be affected and could be compensated by an appropriate mixture setting. But why go into this trouble if you could locate a replacement 38-mm air box? PM sent. Tony |

well you dont want a used one ... for the work that is involved you may as well put a brand new one in and refurbish your CIS. I got mine right from Sunset Porsche in Oregon i think. ( mine is a 78 larger runners ) . I got the box , all new rubber conectors, plus the replacement one was the updated one with the plenum insdie. got all new gaskets and seals for like 500 bucks al in i think ..
