Multiple Porsches: Which one do you drive most?
Loved my Alfa GTV 6's and added a 928 manual trans. to the stable. GTV languised in the driveway. Then I got an SC. Drove it more than the 928 but still enjoyed the differences. Then in a new country I put tons of miles on an 89 928 5 speed. Only sold it because I moved. Came back and found an 88 3.2 Cab and put a boat load of miles on her, and never once dissatisfied. Pressure plate fractured and I picked up a strong but tatty 951 and proceeded very happily to the extent that I didn't put the 88 Cab back on the road. A great driving experience and I think that I probably would have driven the two cars equally. Then due to a good deal on a 4.2 Maserati Spyder, and a fuel line fire in the 951 the Maser became my DD. Lots of 100 mph cruising in UAE I put many happy miles on the Maserati. Sold the Maser and returned Stateside and miss the 4.2 V8 but at the gasoline consumption and the high investment required, I've been driving my 964 by choice and winter beaters by bad weather. The 928s sit because of the fuel costs. The winner, I think, would be the SC but no time to replace the head studs.
What are your experiences of choice? |
914 almost daily 75 miles round trip to/from work.
|
87 Cab twice a week; 87 928 at least once. Need to keep them in the rotation and driven!
|
Which ever one is running. One is usually down for maintenance or upgrading or just me tinkering. Nothing better than an air cooled Porsche in my book!
|
Currently Cayenne S in the summer Boxster my 911's rarely get driven
|
The Cayenne is driven every day by the wife.
The 356 is driven a few times a week as it's the newest, the 911 a coupkle times a month right now as it's down the road at a friends place. |
Try to drive both 911's equally when possible which is about once per week. Enjoy both for different reasons. 88 Targa for open top driving and smooth power. 70 coupe for the raw old 911 experience. Would drive both more ofter if I didn't have a company car to drive to work.

The 991 is my daily - even in winter (fabulous car)
The RS gets out on weekends in the summer and I occasionally drive it to work My wife drives her Cayenne every day |
356 daily driver. 930 every couple of months, not near enough.
|
My '67 912, because its running.
|
I drive my '87 911 at least once a week, normally more, averaging approx 7.5k per year. It's my only Porsche, so that's the one I drive.
I can't imagine having 2 or 3 or 4 and having to choose! |
