New Oil Preasure Sender

I have an 04 C4S. I just purchased a new Oil Pressure Sender Unit here (Part #: 996-606-203-02-M100). After replacing the unit my oil pressure always reads the max - 5 while the engine is running and returns to 0 when stopped. My old unit moved between 2.5 and 5 as I accelerated. I'm replacing the unit due to intermittent Oil Failure warning messages and the oil pressure gauge dropping to 0.

The installation was straight forward - screw in the new unit and attach two wires. I checked my oil and it is within the normal range. Any thoughts on this unit or my installation? I haven't had the car out yet so maybe once the oil heats up it will respond????

Your gauge reading act like the sender was not hook-up.

Unhook the wire(s) at the sender unit, run the engine and shut off to see if it react the same.

If its a 2 wires, they might be cross.

There wasn't a problem with the part or installation.

I think the gauge will stay pegged on 5 until the oil warms up. Once I was out on the open road for a few minutes it started behaving like the original gauge. It will idle just over 2 then peg at 5 under heavy acceleration.

Hopefully my occasional Oil Failure warning issue is gone with this new gauge.......
