Angry Cant reach the older sender!!!

I upgraded my oil temp gauge this weekend. While removing the old sender, it slipped and fell down into the cavity under the fan where the belt that is attached to the fan runs down in.

I have tried getting a magnet down there, a coat hanger, etc. Poked from the left side down under the pulley and made a hook on a coat hanger to try and hook on.

NO LUCK

Anyone know how to get into that area without yanking the fan?

IT does not affect the belt turning, there seems to be enough space in the cavity down there, but I do not like having that loose oil temp sender down there.

Thanks

This exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I tried doing it with the engine hot, got singed, flinched and down she fell.

My new sender looked like copper so the magnetic flex light did not grab it. First I used a folded coat hanger with duct tape on it. While staring down the left side of the fan with a flashlight, I was able to reach the hanger in from the right and shove the sender into view. Then I drove my truck - not my Porsche - to Trak Auto and spent a whopping $2 on one of those claw grabber things. That got her out in under a minute. I panicked at first, but once I got it out, it was no problem. I dropped it down there one more time and again, had her out immediately.

I just noticed you said "old" sender. It should have some iron in there and stick to a magnet, but follow my previous instructions anyway.
