Installing roll pin into shift fork in 915.
 

Attempted to install the shift rod fork roll pin and failed miserably. I damaged the pin as I removed it-anyone know the exact size? Also, what's the trick to installing the roll pin so it seats in all the way?? So close to getting her back together!

I bought a pack of 2 from Lowe's, they are 5/16 I believe. Too long, but I tested one in the old shift fork and I think it will be fine. I'm going to cut it too length.

Make sure you have the shaft lined up perfectly so the pin is not bottoming on the splines. Try to align it with something smaller, like a small drill bit maybe (not the bit end).

I remember re-installing this pin was a pain. It's easier if you make a little block with a slightly oversized hole to help align the pin. I do not know the size but our host sells replacements.

Hey Todd how are you? Ever get that thing back on the dyno with the exhaust? I've gone a little nuts building my own lately. Starting to get a handle on welding. I have 2 now. A super loud and a live-able loud. Took some sound clips the other morning up in Dahlonega. I'll trim it down and email it to you in the next few days.

try using a roll pin punch, works much better

they have a little nib on the tip to keep it on track

Line it up with an allen from the back and as you tap the pin in the allen will come out and you are properly located.
Now we are talking the clutch release lever that actuates the TOB and not the spring lever on the clutch lever. I dont know why anyone would want to reinstall the retainer on the lever.

Engine still isn't back in :-(. I've been getting bogged down in side projects (MSD wire harness, oil cooler install, etc.). But, hope to have it back in over the next few days!
