Holiday Project - LED Instrument Lights

My Holiday project was to install the Bright White LED instrument lights that I got through Pelican ETarga in my 1988 911. Checking the many threads on this topic, I was pleased to find it was relatively straightforward. The instruments came out with careful prying and a little spray silicone to ease the old rubber. The only difficulty I had was removing the tachometer, which on my car would not get past the shroud around the turn signal and windscreen wiper arms. Removing the steering wheel and the shroud was the solution, and also makes installing the LED bulbs much easier. The result of all this are much, much brighter and easier to read instruments.

Do they make a kit in a warmer color temperature? The added visibility is a no brainer but for me, the cool white is akin to having a modern stereo in the car... breaks the mood.

Etarga offered me vintage white or super white. I choose the super white as visibility was more important to me than authenticity.

Aircraft instrument lighting, back lighting, is RED for a good reason......

Reasonably visible to the human eye yet does not interfere with night vision.

I got the Vintage ones. Not too bright, just right. They are not as yellow as the originals. Good balance without being too fakey blue.

Actually that photo was taken at night. I think my camera makes it look like daylight, but the only light sources are a streetlight and the instruments. Bottom line, the LEDs are not just brighter but easier to read. They are not distractingly bright.
