Pertonix install no start, help?

Hi I tried installing a pertronix ignitor in my '77 911s with stock CIS and it doesn't start, can someone help me get the wiring right? I've taken a few photos of the mess I created.

Here's what I did.
1) I pulled out the points, and installed the ignitor.
2) Then I connected the red wire from the ignitor to the 12volt wire that originally went to the points and the positive probe on my volt meter, connected the loose black wire from the ignitor to my negative probe on the volt meter. With the ignition on I turned the engine by hand and watched the voltage alternate between 0 and 12.5 volts as the distributer turned. I think the ignitor unit is working.
3) I connected the black wire from the ignitor to the negative on the ignition coil. I tried starting it and it without luck.
4) I checked the resistance across the ignition coil and it showed 2ohms. The resistance across the 1.5 ohm flame thrower in my other car was 2.5ohms so I think the coil is probably ok.
5) I pulled the spark plug wire out of the ignition coil and held it .5 cm away form the lead. I had a friend turn the key and crank. I saw a spark from the coil right when he turned the key, then nothing when he cranked the engine. We tried it a few times just to be sure.

I thought the 12 volt wire to the points was the ignition... I was hoping to get some advice before I really screw something expensive up.

If you will search this forum for "Pertronix" I think you will find numerous threads on how to install your Pertronix Ignitor...

IIRC, you never connect a Pertronix to either side of the coil on a Porsche with a CD box.

I think you have it wired wrong. The black wire does the same thing as the stock points wire did. So that wire goes to the CDI box trigger lead. Again this is the same as the single wire in the points system.

The RED wire is for switched 12 vdc. This is a new wire has to be wired into a circuit that is energized by the ignition switch, this is called switched 12VDC. This red wire energizes the Pertronix with 12 volts.

Everything else stays the same. If you have a CDI the black wire goes there and NOT TO THE COIL!

Other things to check:
The position in which the Ignitor red wire is attached to is not supplying sufficient voltage.
The air gap between the module and magnet sleeve is too great.
The ground wire inside the distributor is not connected.
The wire connections are not tight.
The polarity is not correct.
