Post Voltage regulator text, in german, what does it mean?

Ok, my voltage regulator is one that has been self made. It has a switch that says NORMAL (i know what that means :P) but the other position says ERHÄLT

What does that mean? I tried using babelfish, but it only translated it as "receives"...Does not make any sense...Any German linguistics here ??

Thanks in advance

The literal trans. is "maintain", but I'm not sure why it would say that.

Zen,

Just a guess (without seeing the whole thing) but how about:

Normal & Maintenance positions???

Normal is easy and if Richard says Erhalt stands for maintain, it could mean a maintenance position. I have never seen a maintenance position on a regulator but could be a switch of some sort.

I would get Rolands email off one of his postings and email him directly. Take a pic of it and send it to him...

"erhält" or the verb "erhalten" means:
a) to receive
b) to maintain in terms of "to keep things at a certain level"
"erhält" in german is NOT used for "maintain" in the meaning of "maintenance"

No idea what its supposed to do on a voltage regulator though.

Well, like I have said on some posts before, the PO has done many stupid "conversions" to the car. Guess I have to open up the regulator and check out what it really does.

Thanks anyway
