Float Level Question

When adjusting my Weber 40 IDTP's this past summer, one of the things i thought I noticed was a float level issue. So I changed the float level by making the shim smaller (thinner). The float Gage looks good now but when i come to a stop from high speed, my car nearly stops unless i pump the pedal slightly.

Is this normal behavior now that i made the shim smaller? I am going to change it back soon but wanted the experts to chime in for some advice.

Thanks

Dave dont have carbs, but when I was much younger I remember this as the bowl does not have enough fuel. I would raise the float a bit

Two questions:
  • Do the top covers of the Webers have the PMO anti-percolation holes?
  • When making the stop from high speed are you suffering the problem when using brakes to decelerate or are you compression braking and seeing the problem?

Float levels need to be set correctly since they determine (along with other variables) when the main circuit is activated. A 0.010" thick shim will move the float level by about 2mm which is the tolerance band for this adjustment.
