Smile Tire sizes for a '72 911T?

I'm sure this has been covered here somewhere already... but what is the maximum size tires that will fit on stock 6J 15 Fuchs?

I just picked up an absolutely stock '72 911T Targa with 82K that has been sitting for years in a garage with a few problems. One of which is the 185/70 VR15 Dunlop SP Sport Supers on it look pretty old and I don't trust them... (I suppose I'll have to get the car running right first!)
Anyway, how big can I go on these rims with stock fenders without rubbing anything?

Thanks guys!

I too have recently picked up a '72 911T Targa...again not running...and my car has P205 60 R15 tires. It gives the car a nice look. I noticed, in the engine compartment, there's a sticker showing the tire options. If you want to be a stickler for keeping it stock, you can use one of those listed there. I believe P185 70R15 was this biggest one listed. I'll have to check again.

I know this does'nt help you . . . but I spent ages looking for replacement Dunlop 185/70/15's but to no avail. After some further investigation I found out that the last 3 digits of the DOT code (on the sidewall) tell you when the tyre was made.

The first 2 digist indicate the week
The last digit is the year.

So '150' is the 15th week of either 1980 ir 1990.

I'd be careful if you use the Dunlops, even as a stop gap, as one of mine disintergrated . . . mine were 12 years old.

I kept the replacements the right size with that well known brand 'Vredestein'

The maximum tire size that is approved by Porsche according to their newest tire/wheel size letter is 195/65 R 15. If you go bigger (dependend on size), bigger or smaller mods have to be made to steering/ fender. These are all German TUV approved!!! If you live in th US, you can go as big as you want until the tire rubs against the fender walls. If you want more info let me know!

I agree...195/65 would put you up to the "S" tire size of your year, and replicates the rolling diameter of the old Michelin XWX's, thus your speedometer won't change....unless you plan on track or autocross, these should be fine for street use. And yes, I'm running 195/65 on my car...
