Aligning the trunk lid: are hinges adjustable?
 

When I purchased my '78SC Targa it was obvious some creep had tried to lever their way into the trunk of the car. Now that the mechanicals of the car have been tended to, I am turning to the bodywork.

The situation is that the back edge of the trunk (near the windshield) is higher than the side panels/windshield wiper "deck" by about 1/4" plus. Yesterday I opened the trunk and loosened the three 13mm bolts that hold the hinge to the inner panel, and then tried to move the whole trunk lid down: no luck. So, should I have been able to move it? That is, are the hinges moveable against the inner panel, or do I turn my attention to the hinge-to-lid allen bolts and attempt to find some relief there?

I suppose I may simply have to buy new hinges and possibly a new trunk lid, though both look pretty good to me (possibly replaced following the petty terrorism of the thief).

All thoughts greatly appreciated. Also still looking for someone familiar with Pcars to perform some body work on the cheap for me. I can trade parts or labor.

probably the hinge is bent. there's no adjustment. you can only shim the hood up. once you're out of shims, that's it. cheap enough at the boneyard.

Thanks John. There is nary a shim between the hood and hinge right now, so I am thinking I am in the market for a set of good hinges. In fact, since the front of the hood looks a bit like someone pushed a few times too many, maybe what I need is the whole shebang: hood and hinges.

Anyone in the Seattle area here is a chance to clean out your parts...
