28 row cooler - painting...?

Guys,

So I recently acquired a brass 28 row cooler for my car. I took it over to an oil cooler place to get it washed out (as I recently did my engine oil cooler) and they dipped it or whatever it is that they do. Today - I picked it up and it looks like they painted it. They stated it was a special paint of some sort - but it looks like regular paint to me.... and smells like regular spray can paint...

Question is ---- do you think this "mysterious" coating will negatively impact the performance of the cooler? I don't want to have it "looking pretty" if that will be reducing its cooling.

I will be calling the shop back tomorrow to get some answers - but thought I would ask here first as well.

The cooler went from this:

to this:

for $85 bucks...

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Paul

I dont think it will make enough difference to matter. Mine works so well its shocking to me. I would roll with it unless you dont like the looks. They get covered with schmutz any way - maybe it will be easier to wash off?

So funny! The 28 I purchased had the very same bent tubes, same place. I think that for $85.00 you did well, esp. if you had it pressure-tested as well as cleaned and painted.

I understand there are heat-conductive paints that claim to wick away heat. If so, that would be my direction. I left it brass finish, and in fact buffed it to match what I'd done when I dropped my oil tubes and cleaned them up of years of crud (a worthwhile afternoon).
