valve adjustment

I am adjusting my valves on my 1980 Porsche SC and I notice along with all the washer and nuts in my new valve cover gaskets were two aluminium rings about an inch in size. what are these for ? I have looked everywhere and can not find where they go.

Thanks

One is for the crankcase drain, the other is the oil tank. Use 'em both along with a new filter and fresh oil.
Valve adjusting is tricky business - take your time. Hope you got the clever little cranked neck feeler gauge too...
