Once again I need some assitance. I had rebuilt the brake calipers before and also replace the OEM hoses with braided SS Lines. Now I have power bled the brakes and the pedal goes all the way to the floor. I can pump the brakes up but as soon as I let the pedal go for a few seconds it 's back to the floor. I also notice fluid escaping from the over flow when I pump the brakes up hard.
What do you think? Is it time for a new master cylinder? Could it be a problem with the booster? ( I did change the hoses around quite a bit in order to re-install the emmissions components) I have manually bled the brakes 3 times and just power bled them twice with my new Pelican Motive Power Bleeder. The brake failure light also stays on and the brakes really never get firm after the bleed. That's it. Any ideas... ------------------ 78 3.0L/3.2L CIS 911SC |

Did you let the master cylinder run dry? If so, the MC may need 'bench bleeding.' Bench bleeding can be done in the car, but you may have to life the front or rear of the car to get the MC at the correct angle. Once at the correct angle, bench bleeding can be done by having an assistant pumpt the brakes while you pinch a hose to prevent air from getting back into the MC. Master cylinders have separate bleed ports right on their sides for this (bench bleeding) purpose.
Clearly, there is air in your system somewhere. ------------------ '83 SC |
