Newish 911 owner
Just wanted to introduce myself and my new to me 911. I say newish because this car has been in my family for about 20+ years. My dad bought this '85 back in '87-88 and it's been with us ever since. Lots of great memories and nostalgia (in fact I learned to drive manual in this car). He recently passed it along to me, so that he could make room in his garage for another toy.
Some details about the car. It is a 911 m491 factory wide body in pretty great condition. Car has just a touch under 49K miles, though that number is increasing as I drive it as often as possible ![]() Also, if I could request for some help. Does anyone have a guess as the color of this car. The hood sticker says L999, which I think means paint to sample. It looks maybe white gold metallic or maybe platinum metallic. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have an Audi A4 that's got a color very much like that, although it's a weird name. Difficult to describe because it's got different tones depending lighting.
Audi calls it Atlas Gray. |

Looks the same color as my 911 SC -82 (Zinnmetallic that is pewter metallic in English). Not 100% sure though, difficult to say as these colors can look very different in different light conditions.

Thanks guys! I know the color thing is really hard to figure out, especially without seeing the car in person. I'm planning on adding a few mods here and there and I figure having a better idea of paint color would help.

Zinn Metallic
was offered between 1981 and 1984 only.
This looks more like Zermatt Silver. Tom

great looking car!!!
to me it looks like US model though, reflectors next to indicator lights at the front, rear tail lights are red, the rear bumperettes have been changed, you can see a plug covering a hole left by a wider US one

Thanks. Car is definitely a ROW car. The vin number has both 3 and zzz, which from what I read indicate a ROW car. Also, I emailed Norbert of Turbo look registry and he confirmed that it is in fact a ROW car. Aren't the US bumperettes much wider than these? I'm assuming the tail lights were changed during importation.

The US bumperettes are wider, you still have the original Euro ones on. Look better in my opinion.
