Finding a ventilation control unit
My 1977 911's fresh air blower's dash controller (with the fan control and cables sliders) is broken, in several pieces... I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a new one. I checked our hosts catalog and couldn't find it, I didn't have any luck searching for the Behr part number (91.366.41.117) either.

Try posting a WTB (want to buy) in the classifieds. Beware of emails from people that have what your part but their paypal is dormant! :)

Also, if you have all of the pieces, high grade (golf club) epoxy is your friend, and you can embed small metal strips into the epoxy for added strength. This is one of the first repairs I did on my '84 911, as the controls were broken and would fall out of the dash when you tried to use them. Getting the unit in and out of the dash is the hard part.

I thought about that, I think mine is too far gone. The face is broken off, the wiring plate is broken off, the light bulb holders have melted, and the sliders are bent in such a weird way that I can't push the face close enough to the bracket to get it glued.
If I can't get a replacement, I was thinking of use three carburetor choke assemblies to control the cables and a 4-way switch for the motor. I could make a nice aluminum face plate to hold them. You're totally right about getting it out, it was a huge pain. Also, someone contacted me about having an extra I could buy, fingers crossed :) |
