Where can I find a Lower Shock Bolt/Nut?
I need to purchase two new lower shock bolts and nuts for my 1973 911 T with Bilstein Sport Shocks. The original bolts appear to be slightly stripped and I would like to replace them with new ones. Where could I find a new set?

Bill,
Those are M14 x 1.5 mm bolts and nuts, so a local bolt and nut supply isn't likely to have them in stock. They can probably order them from Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. Or, you can. http://www.metricmcc.com/metric.htm ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa 1992 Dodge Dakota 5.2 4X4 parts hauler |
You can also try these guys...
I buy from them in person good service... I would imagine they have a good mail order service also. http://www.nutty.com/ ------------------

Hello
Attention the Bilstein Sport struts have a other eye bolt diameter then the non RS trailing arms. The pre RS had AFIK M12 x 1,5 and the RS plus later aluminium units had M14 x 1,5. Bilstein had different Ĝ lower eyebolts aviable. Grüsse |
The stock bolts worked fine with the Bilstein Sport shocks. I'll have to double check, but the stock bolt had a head that was bigger than 14mm(I think). Is an M14 a 14mm bolt? Perhaps the bolts were not stock bolts. It wouldn't surprise me with my car. The P.O. made some bad decisions...

Hello
M14 is the standard size while M14 x 1,5 is a fine thread. M14 standard is 2mm thread per turn. M12 x 1,5 is very popluar on Porsche and you will find it on the axles swords, the engine carrier outher screws and the steering rack crossbar. M14 x 1,5 is used on the forward transmission carrier and the inner trailing arm bolt. The chance to find a DIN 912 bolt are much higher. Grüsse |
