Thirteenth Annual NY/NJ/CT/MA/PA/DE/MD/VT/NH/ME/VA Thanksgiving Weekend Rallye
Lucky 13!
Its that time of year once again, the leaves fall, the air gets cold, we prepare to hibernate our most prized possessions but before doing so there is one last seasonal hurrah to be had! For many of you this has become a yearly tradition, and for others its a new event but for all its a day of P-Car fun! The gathering will be much the same this year as it has been in the past. The good news is I have a box of parts from our host waiting in the garage so there is a chance my car is back on the road for this year although things are busy at the moment so it depends how much time I end up having to wrench I may need a ride. Note: I have changed the start back to the original starting point at Rye PlayLand which has easier highway access and a bigger parking lot. Its advised you gas up before arriving. Date: 11/25/2023 Starting Location: Rye Playland Route: See Map Starting Time: 8:30 (leaving Playland, please arrive earlier if you intend on gassing up, chatting, grabbing some food) Ill be posting start/arrival times soon ROUTE:Map Start: Rye Playland Arrive: Please feel free to arrive early if you want to gas up, eat, or hang out for a bit Leave: 8:30 am Second Stop Location: The Park And Ride @ 1056 NY-45, Pomona, NY 10970 Arrive ~9:00am Leave: 9:30 Am This has been our spot to catch the group coming from west of the Hudson as well up from NJ. Third Stop: Shop Rite @ 10A NJ-23, Montague Township, NJ 07827 Arrive 10:45 Leave 11:30 Im going to leave some extra time here for people to re-group, and gas up if need be. There is a McDonalds and a truck stop there as well but neither have parking lots that are size-able enough for everyone so Im keeping the location as the shopping center. Fourth Stop: Coffee Shop/The Carriage House (for lunch if you want) @ 3358 NY-97, Barryville, NY 12719 Arrive 12:00PM Leave 12:30 This is the coffee shop across from our usual lunch spot and those who wish to stop for food are welcome to. This is more or less officially the end of the day but groups typically go on down the rive if the wether is nice. F.A.Q (questions I have gotten in the past and have answers to) - This is a free event, there is no sign up, just show up - This has always been a free event I have no intention of changing that. - Traditionally this has been a Porsche Only Event. - We are not responsible for what you do during the day. The law is the law, the Rally does not endorse speeding or reckless behavior, this is a fun event and there is no winner. - All plans will be updated on this original post so please check back here for info - You can spread the word to all Porsche owners you know including local PCA chapter, the more the merrier. - This is not a PCA event and I would like to keep it that way, the PCA has many rules about their events, not all of which this conforms to. BUT feel free to bring your PCA buddies along and spread the word at your next meeting. - If you are new to this event, check out the previous years to see what its all about. ADMINS: can we make this a sticky thread until the event? But most importantly, who's in? Regards Dave

I’m in with the ‘78 SC. Quick drive up to the starting point from Brooklyn makes it a no brainer, and the route looks like a fun one.

I hope to (finally!) make it this year.
But there is a rub. I have a surgical procedure schedule for 2½ weeks before the drive. Assuming the surgery and recovery goes well, I'll see you there. Depending on how I'm doing, I may meet you all at the 2nd or 3rd stop. Thanks a lot for organizing this. |

The state list is based on people who have come in the past, I dont believe (or no one has told me) we have had anyone from RI yet. If you make it this year it will be on the list next year!
Regards Dave

Update:
The Carriage house is now called "Rivers Edge". Karyn and I were going up today (Wed.) but they are not open for lunch until the weekend. I might try it soon. |

Karyn and I hit the "River's Edge" today (Sunday 12th) and had lunch. They open at 12 on the weekends not 11:30 like their website states. The main dining room isn't open but the bar area is at lunchtime. Food was excellent, service was OK, a little slow, prices average. Would I go there again ... yes.
As a side note, we got there about 10min. to 12:00 and the parking lot was filled with newer 911's and a few Caymans. Must have been 30 cars! I thought I was 2 weeks early for Dave's drive, but as Karyn and I went to sit at the bar everyone split!! I was going to ask where they were from but I was too late? |

![]() And I was really looking forward to this wonderful group drive. I was being driven to a doctor appointment today and was thinking "...what a great day for a back road drive... I'll take out the 911 when we get home... Oh @#$%%!!, I can't..." Last edited by dw1; 11-16-2023 at 05:33 PM.. |

Looking cold (24F low in Barryville) on Sat but dry! Will crank the heat in the SC for what is likely the last drive of the year!
