Trouble removing fuel filter

I can't break the nut on the lower part of the fuel filter. Top one came undone without too much grief but I just can't get the lower one to undo.

I can't use longer spanners because there is too little room and I've tried shooting some WD40 around the fitting but still no luck.

Suggestions?:(

Thanks
Mark

Can you separate at another point and take everything over to the workbench and finish the project?

FYI - when I did this, I had the same problem. I did not use a flare wrench, and started to round off the nut. If you are not using a flare wrench, I would suggest you do.

Flare wrench is a must!
Use two of them, and cross the wrenches like a scissor, and squeeze.
Tighten the same way.

*Warning*: Be sure to check for leaks immediately after starting the motor.
Some of the fittings on new filters are poorly machined, and will leak no matter how hard you tighten them.
