Why can't I find a front Porsche License Plate?
When I purchased my 1977 911 it had a red thick license plate mounted on the front. If I remember correctly it was over an 1/8 inch thick and made of some type of plexy glass or plastic. It had a large Porsche crest and I think the word Porsche under the crest. Well someone liked it as much as I did and took it as if it was theirs .
Someone had mounted a black one on wifes Boxster before she bought it . It was a lot like mine. Some idiot tried to take it when we were at the movies but it broke when they tried. When we came out, half was on the ground and the other half was dangling from the bumper. Any ways , in my search to replace both of them I find my self having as much problems as I did when I was looking for 5.56 ammo last year. All I can find is the same black one for around 15 dollars that everyone has for sale on their websites. I ordered one of them but I have decided not to use it. Its about the thickness of a miller light can and looks cheap. I'm concerned that if a bug hits it , it will dent. yes, its that bad. Why cant I find any nice looking front tags, thick plastic, or metal that have the crest on it? If you have one please post a picture of it and where you found it. Thanks Rick

Simple enough to make one, just get a cheap crest off of fleabay and have plexi of your color choice cut using license plate as a pattern

Yellowperil,
Thats the problem, I can find plenty of the Euro style plates. What I'm trying to replace is the US standard size plate. I was just wonedering if there was a website out there that I was missing. I will continue to look for them. Thanks Rick

You probably can't find these things because they violate copyright or trademark laws and Porsche has been somewhat aggressive in the past, going after the guys that make unlicensed products with their logos.
Making your own is not hard. JR Last edited by javadog; 01-16-2014 at 02:50 PM.. |
