Checking bolt torque on engine - bad idea?

Just curious... was checking for valve cover oil leaks after my valve adjustments and tune up. No leaks from valve covers. Small drop of oil on the bottom of the case. Would it be bad to retorque the engine case bolts underneath or could it open up some leaks? The car is a 1971 with about 75,000 miles.

Might be best to find the source. Could be from another unrelated place like the main seal behind the flywheel.

i am not a fan of losening bolts to retorque. i would put a T wrench on to make sure they are tight.
degrease the engine for well. soak it in degreaser then hose it down. dont be afraid to put the water to it.
oil can leak from the top and run down and look like it is from somewhere else.
