Post Vintage seat recommendations?

What recommedations do you'all have for a vintage-looking seat (for a '73 911)? I'd like non-adjustable, lightweight buckets, and they don't have to be Porsche original-just something like what a 1970's enthusiast would have used to weekend race their car.

Yes, this is for an R Gruppe car. Any suggestions?

Ever seen the interior of Cris's car? I like that look...an RSR seat for the driver, early recaro sports seat for the passenger.

Looks good to me but somewhat pricey at just over $670.

The ones on this website are direct replicas of the RS (sport, not touring) and RSR seats. They too are pricey with shipping from Germany. I am planning to get a set of the sport seat model for the RSR project.

With shipping and without headrests they are about $1,500 (at least at last week's currency conversion rate).

The $1,500 above is for a pair.

If you guys think those prices are high, try pricing a (perfect) set of factory sport seats these days. Most aftermarket seats are a relative bargain...although personally I don't find a lot of these "vintage" seats very comfortable (a bit narrow in the back/shoulders for me); nor are they legal or advisable for track use with modern 5/6pt harness systems due to their lack of pass-thru holes.

For off the shelf, why not try Corbeau...they have some very vintage looking seats.

The RSL seats don't come with tracks or sliders...already contacted them on that.

The pics from AIR are Rob Pedersons seats...he is now doing them out of carbon fibre. I have his cell number only, if you need him, email me and I'll give you the number I have, elinden@earthlink.net Rob uses the track system from RECARO that's available aftermarket, it's a double locker. Rob may be able to do pass through holes, I know he has in the past.

Eric

Thanks for all the advice. I thought Rob was MIA- is he back in Vegas? Are his seats all custom order?

For the RSL seats, how would you mount them? Could you retrofit the existing tracks & sliders from a stock seat?

Also, is Scheel still in business? How about some of the other seat manufacturers from that era? I've been racking my brain to think of someone besides Recaro, Scheel & Corbeau, but for reasonable cost maybe the Corbeau's are the way to go.

Rob is alive....and sort of "well".

He is doing seats. I was in the shop he has in Vegas out at the track just this last week. Rob's cell is 702 283-6509.

Rob is strictly custom order.

regards,
Eric
