Kokeln Group Buy?
Gang,
I have been approved twice now as the only reseller of Kokeln intercoolers to run a group buy. I apologize for the bandwidth, however we are a couple of orders short to completing this deal. Here are the details. Normally 1800.00 kit includes the largest bolt on intercooler with out changing the AC, all hoses, studs, sleeves, intake boot and C2T BOV. The system is converted to a long neck with the C2T style pop off valve. No more clunk clunk. The sale is 1620.00 with everything included. Simply bolt it on and go. ![]() Stephen

I'm definitely in the market to intercool my '76 930. Will this Kokeln intercooler application work on my '76 930?? The previous owner had several other mods done to the car, including a K-27 turbo and exhaust. Will I be able to retain my stock/factory '76 930 tail?? Or do I need to upgrade to the '78 - '88 turbo tail for clearance purposes?? If so, where can I get that '78-'88 turbo tail at a reasonable price??
How difficult is this intercooler project?? Sorry for all the questions.......I'm still learning.

Learning is good.. We all should have that attitude, the industry would be a better place. The intake runners on the pre intercooled cars was set up in a different position. The issue becomes one of which the neck of the intercooler will not mate to the throttle body. The cure, either mod the intercooler to the angle, that is the hardest, or find the intake from an intercooled car. That is typically the easiest and cheapest to do. You will need to change the tail unfortunately as the intercooler will not clear. To bad I know as the older tails are neat, but are not intercooler friendly. We do have other intercoolers that are setup for none intercooled cars, but they are not cheap. If you are handy you can save a lot by changing the intake. The fuel head, lines and associated fuel injected parts will transfer to the intake without issue. Hope this helps.

Stephen, kind of off the subject, but have you ever heard of adapting an air-water intercooler to a early 930 (aside from the 934)?
It would probably be a PITA to come up with a small heat exchanger and plumbing for the system, unless something could be directly adapted. I remember hearing that Saab had a water intercooled turbo, and there has to be something else that could be adapted off the shelf. Aside from the being an engineering exercise, this could be a way (albeit an expensive and complicated way) to intercool a car without a turbo tail. Any thoughts? Tom edit: just saw this other thread. Last edited by emcon5; 08-31-2002 at 09:04 AM.. |

Sure! This is a great idea, but the cost to do such a setup is not for the faint of heart. It can be done with some time, but typical cost are in excess of 5K. It is a great setup when done right and offers all the stealth look you could want!
