Post (ign.) rotor question

I am replacing the cap and rotor while I have the MSD going in. The rotor I got from the parts store is the typical straight one. Pulling the cap (which I should have done earlier), shows the larger rev limiting (I am guessing) rotor. Will the "typical" one work? The MSD has a rev limiter built in. It seems the larger one on the car now, has a little offset to the rotor. It's not a big deal, I can just pick up another one tomorrow. But, I was hoping to finish up tonight. Wishful thinking, I know.
