Practical To Remove Aftermarket Turbo Kit To Pass Smog Then Reinstall?

For those with Protomotive Stage 1.5 or similar (meaning aftermarket turbo kit for 3.2 with intercooler but no internal mods):

Once this is installed, how many hours do you estimate it would take you to remove enough of the kit to pass CA smog, and then to re-install it?

I'm speculating this would mean removing the intercooler, replacing the original exhaust system, replacing the original airbox, and maybe not much else? I don't really know what work would be involved, I'm just asking. Also I'm speculating (hoping?) that it could be done without dropping the motor. True?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to gauge whether this mod is practical for those of us who have to pass CA smog every two years.

I think it would be a fair amount of work. You would also have to rechip the comp. to get it to pass, I would think.

I think it would be easier to have a spare 3.2L to throw in for the test. Not very cheap though.

This is what you do you keep you chip because they will burn another one then you can remove the turbo components and install yours just make sure that they return to you all the parts and that they don't cut any of yours, the removal the first time may take you a little longer but once you are familiar is very simple,we had at one time emission here in florida but we no longer have them:) (thank god!) but I used to do this once a year no big deal do, I had the best of both HP and Emission:D
Hope this helps

Here is another solution. It might be crazy, but here goes.

Get a few Pelican Heads together and buy a stock 3.2. Then you can share it during emission time.

Say a $5000 motor between 5 people. Not that crazy huh.
