Check tips of idle jets for dirt, tip diameter is 0.475mm.
Mixture screws should be about 3 1/4 turns open to begin with tuning. Spitting up is a lean condition so check for air leaks from your hoses attached to the bottom flanges of the carburetors and all other air hoses attached to your carburetors.

Those could be carbon deposits on the valves. I'm no expert but I have read this would indicate that air is getting by the valves. You can read more here Weber Carbs Technical
