911sc Doorlock won't open!

Hi,

made the (big? ) mistake of locking the passenger door with the key, when the door wasn't fully shut.

Now using the key won't lift up the locking pin and the turn knob inside won't open it either

Don't want to force the key as it feels like it might break.

Help!!

any suggestions,

I would try shutting the door all the way. then try unlocking.

Hi Island911

had a go at pushing the door shut - but the catch just won't engage so it will not shut fully.

hope it doesn't rain tonight!

anyone else any ideas?

think I've been jinxed - washing machine lid jammed at the weekend as well, as bad luck runs in threes - what will lock next?

:(

My 911 SC did that also - maybe because it's English. I bought it in Weighbridge.

I pushed HARD on the door while I turned the key.

Go on through the drivers side and unlock it?????

but so as not to appear smug I'll try from the inside ( again )

:p

Happy again now, Soaked the lock ( the bits I coud reach through the gap in the door ) with WD40 and left overnight.

thought I'd have one last try at getting the door to shut fully before attepmting to get the door card off.

WD40 must have worked magic - with a fair amount of force ( pusghijg about level withthe locking bar on the car frame inwrads and upwards ) the door closed fully and then I was able to use the key to open it.

But think now might be the time to give both the locks an overhaul. The drivers locking pin doesn't drop down level with the door card when the door is locked.

so....

Do you need to replace all the locking mechanism - or are there any individual parts that can be replaced / lubricated to improve the lock?

thanksSmileWavy

HAHA...Had to laugh. Same thing happened to me last weekend. IF in this position the lock on the inside doesn't work and turning the key by force will probably just snap off the key. There are some problems that just need a little force to be dealt with properly. I pushed hard and fast, got past the still closed/still open position of hell and the lock worked just fine. I doubt as weather the WD40 did anything for you . It was probably just more force than you used last time. Glad all worked out for you.
