How to tell what webers are set for??

This may be too big of a question to be answered simply and its time to dig into all the weber books gathering dust on my shelf, but thought I'd try. How do I know what a set of Webers I have will work on. I have a uninstalled 2.7 that came with a set mounted but How do I know what they were set up to run on?

The main venturi size is the key. However, a particular venturi selection may be good for a small, high reving engine and also good for a larger, lower performing engine. Even an engine of given displacement but different build specifications will want different venturis and other bits. A CIS 2.7 would like 32mm venturis but set up with S cams and similar performance upgrades then 34m venturis would be nice.

Really, the only way to know is to tear them down and get the sizes for the venturies, main jets, idle jets, air correctors and emulsion tubes. The numbers are stamped on the sides of these parts.

If they have been sitting its probably a good idea to tear them down for cleaning.
