Are the turn signal switch and wipre switch repairable - DIY
I'm just wondering if there are any options for repairing/tightening up my turn signal stalk and wiper stalk.
When I hit bumps, the kind you would see on a bridge or overpass like big expansion cracks, my wipers may go on. Also, more and more, I have this problem with the lights switching to the high beams. The high beam problem is really a pain because it almost always happens right when I'm about to pass someone and it seems like I'm being rude when I'm not. Anyway, I just thought I would inquire before I plunk down the cash and buy new ones. Thanks |
I am not familiar with your wiper switch problem. But I had the same experience with my turn signal switch. Just the slightest disturbance would knock the switch into the high beam mode. That is actuallly a very common problem. I was able to reair the switch on my '79SC. Here are a few links describing the procedure:

While you are at it you should make sure to have the after market relays installed. Those will keep the hight lamp current away from the signal switch and possibly fry it. The relay kit is available from our host. |
