Badge?
I bought a badge on ebay - the type with the black prancing horse and yellow back ground. What do you guys think of these on a modern car, namely a 993. I did a dry fit and I am not sure about the look. Has anyone added on of these to their car?

Although this badge seems popular with the 356ers, I see nothing wrong with it on any P car. I run two grillle badges...because I belong to both groups. Early 911S registry, and the old one, "Cascade Region, PCA"...the old one mainly because they were made by a departed friend, Dave Snook...

Badge is one of my favorite Cream songs. It was also a staple of many later Clapton tours...I have a few bootleg recordings somewhere, and it was also in the playlist of Nasty Habits and the Blopucks .
Now for 50 points. Who was the co author of the song? No google searches allowed |

Brian,
I think if you did the complete 'retro-look' to your 993, it might work (i.e. Fuchs-like wheels (see other thread), ducktail, Carrera side script, etc.). -- Curt |

Hey Todd wrong BBS, I think you want MTV, kinda off the wall dont you think. I agree with you Curt! However no retro happening on my car, no offense. I may put it on once in a while for my own entertainment. Paul I think they look good on the early cars.

Hi Brain, Badges or no Badges what ever floats your boat..
But in regards to that Badge you just purchased, retract yor bid if you can.. I purchased the same badge and it's a piece of junk!! It's nothing but a very cheap cheesey imitaton probably made in China.. I returned it the same day I received it. Just my opinion.. Jorge (Targa Dude) ![]() |

For another 50 points, where did it get the name "Badge"?

Evidently Harrison was transcribing the song and wrote "bridge" over one section of chord changes (the bridge actually). Clapton was reading it upside down and misread it, then said, "badge, what the hell is that?" Legend has it the name stuck.

Todd, I think your second answer is the more correct ... I seem to remember that apparently Clapton couldn't read George Harrison's writing & misread the word 'bridge' thinking it said 'badge' - & the name stuck!
Saw Cream live on many occasions in London in the late '60's - including their Farewell concert at the Albert Hall in '68. Andy Boyle (UK) '69 911E |
