Hey Curt:
The link to the '74 Targa (not the '73 RS), looks like a nice car but may be somewhat misrepresented. My concerns would be: - claims to be a Targa RS. Were there any Targa RS's? - I thought the 1974 RS had a 3.0 not a 2.7 - IMO the auction car looks like a 1974 Euro Carrera Targa with the 210 hp 2.7 Nice car, but it seems like the dealer may not quite know what they do have or worse - just plain deceitful. If I was in the market for an RS (I Wish!), I don't know if I'd buy from these guys. Regards, Andrew M 1970 911T

The link for the 73 is at the top.
There were, in fact, Targa Carrera RS's in 1974. And the Euro versions did come with the same 2.7/210 motor as the 73 Carrera RS. -- Curt |

Oops, I missed the link to the '73 RS earlier.
on the other car... I thought that the only 1974 RS was the 3.0 engine variant and that the 210HP 2.7's were just labeled Carreras - no RS. Oh well, I learn something new everyday - sometimes two things! Regards, Andrew M 1970 911T

1974 "2.7's were just labeled Carreras - no RS. "
You might be right! 911 & P-World just did a feature on these but I'm too tired to look for it! -- Curt

Wonder where the engine is... sure does not seem to be in the car. The clutch pedal is on the floor, obviously not hooked up.
No sign of exhaust, maybe you get to install it when you pay 100K for the car...

Can anyone tell me why owners are reluctant to post vin numbers
in advertisements for these low production "numbered cars"? Seems to me it would help buyers and sellers to identify them. Thanks! Mike

What is the story on that tail? It does look to be a couple inches longer than normal.
I suspect there is a good punchline to that setup, I just can't think of it yet.

fwiw I went to European Collectibles a few months back...as some might recall they had a nice looking yellow '67 S. That car was on the showroom floor, and also had a disconnected clutch pedal. It also smelled like fresh paint. It was clean though. I couldn't say the same for most of the other cars on the lot. There also is a body shop right next door...and it wasn't exactly swank lookin'. Draw your own conclusions...

I also question why that 73 seems to be without an engine. Besides you would think they would have included an engine shot on such a rare car if in fact it is what it appears to be and it had an engine installed. The rearend is way too high and neither exhaust cutout has a tailpipe. And yes the ducktail does seem to be at least 1-2 inches taller. FWIW
