Show off your Flat or Satin paint jobs

I have been thinking about going with a flat white or some other color on my 911.

How about a thread of all the flat or satin 911's. Come on, give us the best picture you have!

Maybe Plastidip a small section with a rattle can first? It has a matte finish that can be easily reversed, though I would do some research to make sure it wouldn't hurt my clear coat.

I figure I can do it with plastidip and give it a temporary face lift. This way I can go back to the current white without much trouble.

I do like the looks of this one!

Did P-Dippy do this car? Because if he did, it looks pretty cool!

The one to the left is my Carrera 3.0 it is wrapped in 3M flat black.

The one to the right is my 1978 930, originally Lesonal 704, Matte Schwartz. Pictured after disaster struck, as in a guy rear ended me

Matte Bronze with blacked out Fuchs would be a sweet look.

Can wraps be removed without damage to paint?

yes. wraps are just vinyl, and don't hurt the paint at all. the lettering from most dealerships on the trunk of the cars they sell are typically vinyl. however, if you plan to wrap a car, be prepared to break out almost as much money as a full repaint.

I believe that statement is too broad and inaccurate.

I wrapped my car on my own. Hence, it only cost me the expense of the vinyl, which is not too bad, check ebay. I would stick with top brands.

I my world a proper paint job on a Porsche is several thousands, if done properly. My wrapped Porsche will be painted once I have got the money for that expensive paint job.

Another thing, since I have wrapped the car, I am not as concerned about its looks and I tend to use the car more. After all, it is just a wrap.

If you want to wrap your car, just remember, the wrap won't be any smoother than the surface beneath the vinyl.

I suppose you're right - my statement was broad and rather vague.

Let me elaborate:

I agree that a proper paint job costs thousands of dollars.

My thought when replying to the thread was with regard to a professional wrap - these have a tendency to cost thousands (yes, thousands, multiple) when done using quality wrap and a quality installer. I know this because a friend of mine does professional installations and quoted me between $2400 and $3200 to wrap my 911, difference driven by the vinyl.

While I agree, a proper paint job is probably several thousand above that, this is still an expensive task.

So somebody else bought it and flipped it for more than the 27,000? I read why he had to sell it, I have twins going off to college in 2 years. I have a 70T with a sporto and I am undecided in which direction to go to get the highest possible in the sale. It already has sc flares so I was thinking maybe a RS look. Too bad i cant keep it.

FWIW - I've had professional wrap jobs with quality materials quoted in my area for $1600-$2000.

IF... the paint is in good condition then yes a wrap will come off later with no damage.
However your definition of good condition may be very different to someone else.

If it's not so good then it would have needed paint anyway so what have you got to loose?
