Just look for a local plating company. If they do yellow zinc, you're in business. Usually have a minimum order (I pay $50), which will probably cover all you can bring them. For high stress fasteners, pay extra to have them baked to avoid brittleness.

+1

Use yahoo local Torrance City Pages on Yahoo Local. Find Businesses, Services and Events near Torrance, CA

Load in your town and "plating" as the search query. You will find something. May take a few phone calls.

Yellow Zinc Plating - "Gold Cad" style replating and chromating for auto part finish restoration

nice fellow, quality work, quick turn-around, and he's sort-of in your neighborhood (NJ)

Whatever you do, stay away from Burbank Plating in southern California, unless you live there, and can drive by if you have any problems.

Thanks for that link. If this guy specializes in auto parts then it's a safe bet.

I would just ship it to them, carrerarsr65.

I bet the entire cost would be under $200 including shipping both ways.

Sniff around in the front trunk. There may be more goodies you can send along given the cost is probably going to be a flat rate.

I ended up sending him two batches; one for body/chassis/suspension,
and one for engine/trans/miscellaneous bits that I realized I'd left out of the first batch.

Clean and shiny hardware made the re-assembly work a real joy.

I suggest taking lots of pics of your hardware, with labeled baggies along-side, to assist in the sorting process once you receive the re-plated nuts, bolts, washers, etc.

I only lost one part during the process and it was my fault; I threw the baby out with the bath water !

Yes, Jim does great work at a reasonable price.

Just got the bits and pieces of my Zenith TIN carbs redone. Sent him bagged parts, with parts type and quantity marked on the bag. Sent picture of contents, and he sent back a picture of the same parts after finishing over the original picture.

VFR750,

Don't want to hijack the thread, but how much did the Zenith part plating set you back?

I have a set that I would like to do for my 71T.

$85 including Jim shipping them back to me. Reasonable to me.

BTW, I was searching the internet under "Yellow Zinc" and his company came up high on the search. Checked here on PP and saw the good review. Took the review before me, on this post at face value, and sent him my parts. Nice to deal with, and got them back sooner than he thought. Nice.

He does have a size limit. My shafts were getting close to the limit. I sent him a picture and the lenght and we were good to go.

I sent my rear suspension (spring plates, covers, hardware) to Phila. Rust Proofing, if that's closer for you.
I had Millenium Plating Company in Loell MA do my fan (Electroless nickel). I think he may be a pelican too. Maybe they do yellow zinc chromate.
