Plug wire separator brackets?

I'm doing some work in the engine bay and was trying to clean up some things While I'm In There™.

Where can I get those really nice brackets for the plug wires that go over the fan shroud? The ones I always see in really clean engine compartments. I haven 't seen much at my local FLAPS.

I'm using Clewett wires, not the Berus, with the MSD Street Fire CDI. Car is an '83.

the 17 in the pic is the triple ... I think that is what you are looking for ... the other is a double ...

If you have a picture of exactly what you are looking for some one may be able to chime in and let you know if it is a stock item or not ...

The OE ones don't fit the Clewett wires. Clewett's are a little thicker.

I got some from JEGS that I really like.

If you want to use the factory ones for larger wires, I have drilled them out to fit.

Thanks for the help, folks.

You know how when you see something you like and you want to follow up but you don't have time right then and then when you go back later you can't find it? Yea...

Part 17 is the general idea, yes. Here is the closest pic I can find right now... The consensus seems to be the Magnecors and Clewett's don't normally fit these looms but you can drill them out.

The only thing I can seem to find around here is crap that belongs on the same aisle with the cheap plastic chrome skull shift knobs with genuine imitation jewel eyes, floor mats with flames on them and bedazzled steering wheel covers.

I'll keep looking and try to find a pic of what I'm thinking about. Seems like it was in someone's build thread and the wires were blue. And I think the fan shroud was black. Maybe it was on a Singer.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Didn't see your answer until after I posted my last response, but I had read that some people had done that.

Kidasters,

No they're not all crap... But just about everything I've seen locally is meant for V8 engines so you have to buy several packs just to get enough 3-wire clips.

Wouldn't it look cleaner if you just bundled them up with some tie wraps?

I drilled out the factory ones to fit the 10mm Magnecors. Worked great.

You want to keep them separated to inhibit inducing crossfire.

There is a way to do the tie wraps so they act as a separator. I will post a pic later. My engine came this way... I would not have ever thought to do it the way it is on my plug wires.

Common miss-conception. It never happens with carbon core ignition wires, and for that matter, never on copper core Beru's cables either. Separators and shielding were done as a placebo for those worried about air box explosions, a strategy that never worked.

Cheers,

Joe
