Looks great Flo! Are my eyes tricking me, or did you lower it a little?

Flo, your Porsche is really great.

I have fond memories of Frankfurt from 1986-89. My late wife and I actually lived in Bad Vilbel in what used to be US military houses. We returned there in 2006 and discovered that the old I. G. Farben building that was our headquarters is now a university. That's good. I have a 1973 911T that is really an emerging RS tribute. Thought you might like my license plate that I purchased on eBay to commemorate the year we lived in Wuertzburg. Actually lived 3 years in Schweinfurt but I like umlauts!!!

ah, yes, the US headquarters...
used to run around there as a kid, talking to GIs and admiering the tanks and such.
then things went nervous and we had to stay off... all was heavily fortified.
well...

nice plate!
unfortunately these are the new-style lettering.
I know a plate maker that stil has the old templates an can make you a period correct plate (also without the blue EURO-bar).

Nice car and a nice city .
Apart from airport stops , I've been there twice when I lived in England .
Once for a weekend trip , and once for the World Cup .
It's a great city .

Flojo,

If you have not already done so, check your Private Messages. I am interested in the period-correct license plates with the old style lettering.

Cheers!

Germany

Hi German fans,

I recently saw this and thought it might be somewhat apropos to this thread. Those of you in the VII Corps area will remember Grenadier Kaserne, which was very close to the Porsche factory.

Stadtteilgeschichtliche Sammlungen Rot

It is in German, but the pix are nice to look at even if you don't sprechen no Deutsche. I was in Heilbronn and used to go on courier missions all the time to VII Corps Engineer HQ. I frequently snuck over to the Porsche works to look at the cars in their little museum. It was nothing like what they have now. You could walk around and nobody bothered you at all. It was tight as a tick in there. You could see the cars going by on the assembly line from outside-totally cool. Porsche also had an office building out off the Autobahn in Ludwigsburg and you could walk in and get posters just for the asking. So it was always great to go to Stuttgart. Later on I moved up to Heidelberg and HQ US Army Europe and a staff weenie job. Then I made more trips up to Frankfurt and V Corps HQ in the IG Farben Building. The Corps of Engineers HQ was there in the same complex. Frankfurt was "Bankfurt" or also called "Main-hattan" even then. The big bank buildings in the pix are even more impressive.

I still have warm memories of my time in Schwabenland and still go by my Schwaebisch name "Bushle", at least here. Oh yeah, best beer is from Bamberg, also known as Bierstadt. If you spent any time there, you know that's the truth. And furthermore the best place to unwind your Porsche was on the A81 from Heilbronn to Wuerzburg. It was usually lightly travelled, unlike most every other Autobahn. Good times!

Thanks for your service, comments and photos Bushie! I spent the better part of 8 years in Deutschland and have traveled back twice after my 30 years of active service. Few folks are more genuine that our German friends. And few folks make more exciting automobiles and pretty good bier as well!! My favorite was Licher Pilsner from near Giessen. Had it delivered to my door.

I visited Stuttgart, VII Corps HQ once in about 1977. We were planning to participate in a REFORGER exercise and my boss, MG Richard Cavasos had an office call with his old friend MG George Patton, Jr., yes the son of the WWII hero! Man what a hoot it was to listen to these two gentlemen tell their war stories!

But I digress.

"Porsche, there is no substitute."

today I mounted a new "new" radio... after season 2013 without, I wanted one again.
but it had to be modern, iPhone compatible, light and black out!

this is what I got, a 74,- EURO Kienzle MCR 1014, no CD, no CC, but SD+USB+front Aux-in

just painted the main knob silver border in black to complete the look

That's a good looking radio!

I just bought a 1970s Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo radio that works! When I get it installed I'll post a photo. I'm trying to get back to as original as I can.
