Check out this bondo repair/ STR build

So I bought a car from someone I trusted at night and didn't bring a paint meter. He didnt know it was repaired so badly.

The rear quarter was repaired by a bondo artisan. The PO waited 5 years for this repair. I promptly emailed pics of what he waited 5 years for. His wife actually made him sell because the resto was taking so long.

I couldn't believe this as my flap disc kept digging deeper. I was just stripping off paint. It was a solid 1/2" of filler over the entire area.

The story: The car was parked waiting for inspection at the local station and someone backed into it. No prior accident damage, no frame damage whatsoever. The engine support longitudinal is perfect.

Would have been cheaper to buy a panel than take the time to beat that to death....

And he took 5 years I'm told.

I reshaped it. I feel like the metal wants to return to it's as formed shape.

I didn't drill any of the dent puller holes the Bondo artisan did.

Next part of this is really dialing it in and making sure the taillight box is level.

Odd... seems like it was a candidate for paintless dent removal.

Phew, that's a relief. I thought someone had a go at it with a shotgun.

a great way to lose some weight of it's ass end, losing all that bondo.

Man, I can’t believe how much you have straightened it. Imagine you will still have to use a pretty good skim coat of filler?

It's smoother than it looks, light plays tricks on our eyes after you use a flap disc. It'll get a very thin coat bc it measures out right.

Man that’s nuts. I bought a new car years ago and the paint started blistering in the rear. Turned out the car had been rear ended and a bondo madman sculpted the hell out of the rear. Suffice it to say, the dealer refused to admit to the bull**** and refused to compensate me. The damn car was a NEW dealer car when I bought it! It had like 30 miles on the odometer!! The rear bumper absorber zones had crumpled under the lining. I never thought to look at the sheet metal on a new dealer car - until that trunk started blistering like mad thanks to the massive slathering of Bondo underneath. Shady car dealers smh.

Anyhow, back to the regularly scheduled program...

What made your grind off the repaired paint?
Did it not look right?

Holy crap, that's incredible. I bought a slightly used LR3 years ago when our kids were little for safety reasons from Landrover Jaguar of the Main Line. Took it to a friends house and we were up on his deck and we looked down at it and noticed a huge dent on the roof.
I took it back that day. They said they had no idea but it was spotless clean, they must've known.
